Sara Harrigan is both a dancer and choreographer who trained pre-professionally at Halifax Dance before moving to New York, where she graduated Cum Laude from S.U.N.Y. - Purchase College with a BFA in Dance Performance. Recipient of 4 Nova Scotia Talent Trust Scholarships, her additional study took her to programs in NYC, Jacob’s Pillow, Winnipeg, Toronto and Australia. Performance highlights include works by Crystal Pite, Merce Cunningham, Paul Taylor, Howard Richard, Roger Sinha, Lesandra Dodson and Susie Burpee. Since returning to Halifax, she has choreographed for The Young Company of Halifax Dance, Maritime Dance Performance Group, the Atlantic New Dance Festival and Ballet Jorgen’s 2009 Solos/Duets Program. A founding member and past Co-Artistic Director of Mocean Dance (2001-2010), she has also choreographed three works on the company. She was featured on Bravo! in a performance special entitled Mocean Dance in 2004 and additionally acted as Rehearsal Director during the 2008/2009 Season. She is a member of the Canadian Dance Alliance of Dance Artists (ON), the Canadian Dance Assembly and Dance Nova Scotia.
