meet mocean

Based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Mocean Dance creates and performs athletic, vibrant contemporary dance. Led by Co-Artistic Directors Susanne Chui and Sara Coffin, this versatile creation company commissions Canadian choreographers and company members to create dance that is highly physical, collaborative, and technically and emotionally rich. Mocean Dance tours internationally, delivering performances that engage audiences, and offering outreach activity to support the growth of contemporary dance in Canada.

Halifax Movement Synthesis: Mocean Dance is out in the community collecting movement donation for a new creation!

Join us at the Halifax Central Library, Paul O’Regan Hall, Monday, April 24 & Tuesday, April 25: 2-4pm to contribute a movement and be a part of this exciting collaboration---we need YOUR input!

Final creation will be unveiled at an Artist Talk with project lead Dr. Larry Lavender (USA).

APril 29, 8pm

Mocean Dance presents Dance Day '17 an emerging artist showcase and International Dance Day celebration at DANSpace-on-Grafton. Featuring  new work by EMERGE choreographer Kara Friesen, visiting USA dance artist/scholar Larry Lavender, and past EMERGE participant Kathleen Doherty. Tickets available at the door.
