Based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Mocean Dance creates and performs athletic, vibrant contemporary dance. Led by Co-Artistic Directors Susanne Chui and Sara Coffin, this versatile creation company commissions Canadian choreographers and company members to create dance that is highly physical, collaborative, and technically and emotionally rich. Mocean Dance tours internationally, delivering performances that engage audiences, and offering outreach activity to support the growth of contemporary dance in Canada.

clear forum 2019

CLEaR Forum is intended as a collective artist residency focused on exchange and community suitable for emerging to mid-career dance artists. The lab will provide choreographers with the opportunity to question and progress their art making in an intimate, yet rigorous and engaging forum to work within.

The Lab will take place in the picturesque setting of the Ross Creek Centre for the Arts, in Canning NS. Arrival is the evening of Saturday, May 11th and departure is the evening of Friday, May 17.

Applications are due midnight - Friday, February 15, 2019


King's theatre community day

Mocean Dance will be offering movement workshops and hands-on learning opportunities for community members and local school as Sara finishes up her week-in-residence at the King's Theatre in Annapolis Royal while working on her new piece, Inside Wild.
