Emily Gualtieri

Emily Gualtieri is a choreographer and dance artist working in Montreal and Toronto. Since 2007, her interest in creating and craft has driven her to continually produce and tour new works every season. After several years spent choreographing independently, Emily began a partnership with David-Albert Toth, creating works together and founding Parts + Labour Danse in 2011. Their work La Chute, which originally premiered and toured in 2010/2011, was rebuilt in 2013 during a mentorship residency with Mélanie Demers at Circuit-est Centre Choréographique and hailed by Phillip Szporer as one of the year's ten outstanding moments in dance. Emily and David's work have been presented nationally, in festivals such as Dance: Made in Caanda, POP Montreal, VSLR, Dance Matters, and St.John Contemporary Dance Festival. Since 2011, Emily has participated in and led artist residencies in Montreal, Toronto, Banff, Halifax, Massachusetts and Berlin. Emily created À la procaine(2013), performed by Ginelle Chagnon and commissioned by Older and Reckless, and Re:Pairing(2015), a duet with Dora Award-winner Linnea Swan in a DanceWorks CoWorks production. Emily is currently working on commissions for Mocean Dance and L'EDCM students in addition to a new creation for Parts+Labour Danse, which is set to premiere in Spring 2017.
