Andrea Leigh-Smith

Andrea has been an active member of Halifax's dance and theatre community for the past 16 years. While living in Canada Andrea co-founded and choreographed for Irondale Ensemble Project Theatre Company. She has created over 30 choreographic works, taught at Halifax Dance, Neptune Theatre, and Acadia and Dalhousie Universities. She is particularly proud to have collaborated with Canadian dance legend Don Gillies on the creation of Zing! Pop! Zap!.

Prior to Canada, Andrea was dancing professionally in New York City on Broadway and at Radio City Music Hall. She has also choreographed and performed Off-Broadway, in regional U.S. theatres and with national touring companies.

Andrea has recently relocated back to New York where she is teaching at SUNY Cortland, choreographing, and instructing in Stott Pilates Conditioning.

Andrea Leigh-Smith’s creation on Mocean Dance is entitled, When the Levee Breaks (October 2003).
