Heidi Strauss

Heidi Strauss worked as a dancer in Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and abroad before starting adelheid in 2008. She was dance artist-in-residence at the Factory Theatre (2008-2012) where she created three full evening works including the multi-Dora Award-winning, this time. As a resident artist at the Theatre Centre (2014-16), she developed and presented the immersive whats it like (2016) which received Doras for the outstanding production, ensemble performance, and lighting design. Currently, adelheid is in creation for new work to premiere in Toronto in May 2019. Heidi has choreographed for Toronto Dance Theatre (Everyday Anthems), the Frankfurt Opera (durch Roden), The Canadian Opera Company (Marriage of Figaro), Volcano *Africa Trilogy, Golden Dragon) and worked as a movement director for the Stratford Festival (Macbeth). She has taught approaches to movement and performance creation at Ryerson University, The Toronto Dance Community Love-In and Volcano Conservatory, and taught master classes across Canada and in the Czech Republic, Germany, Italy and Singapore. In 2012, Heidi was honoured with a KM Hunter Award for Dance
