Currently living and working in Halifax, Lisa Phinney Langley has been training, performing and creating in contemporary dance in Halifax and Toronto for the past 15 years. She is the recipient of two Nove Scotia Talent Trust scholarships and several artistic grants through the Canada Council for the Arts and Nova Scotia Tourism, Culture and Heritage as dancer, choreographer, and producer.

As a performer, Lisa has travelled throughout eastern Canada and had the opportunity to work with engaging and influential artists from across Canada. She has originated roles in CORPUS' Dora Mavor Moore-nominated Nuit Blanche, When the Levee Breaks by Andrea Leigh-Smith, works by Sharon Moore, Michael Trent, Crystal Pite and David Earle. Lisa is co-founder of Mocean Dance, originating several roles in the company’s repertoire since 2002, and is co-creator with Sarah Rozee of Limits are Optional, an impromptu dance performance experience. In 2008, she will work as an interpreter with Susanne Chui on her new creation entitled Invidia.

Lisa Phinney Langley’s recent choreographic highlights include creation and production of Point/Counterpoint (homeostasis) (2004), a choreographic work based on her studies in atmospheric science that aired on Bravo! and CBC; two creation commissions for the Young Company of Halifax Dance (I had a dream Sunday night [2006] and Hell’s Inventory [2007]); the creation and performance of a solo work entitled Gavia Immer (2007); and Analogy for Solid Bones, a full-evening work for nine dancers, which premiered in Live Art Dance Production's 2009/2010 season.
